Yearbook Submission Instructions

In these instructions there will be many references to a "page" in the yearbook. In most cases this will actually be a half page and not a full page.

Your Bernese Mountain Dog is eligible for a page in the BMDCA Yearbook if it meets one of the following criteria:

• You were notified by a member of the BMDCA Records or Awards Committee that your dog was eligible for a special BMDCA honor. This includes things like Top Winner, Top Producer, Versatility/Working Dog, Grand Master Draft Dog, and Advanced Title earned.
• Your dog was a top placement in the BMDCA National Specialty in the past calendar year.
• Your dog earned a new title in the past calendar year and you would like to honor him/her with a page.

In all cases, the dog must be owned or co-owned by a BMDCA member to have a page in the BMDCA Yearbook.

• All special BMDCA honors pages are free.
• Each dog can have one free "new title" page during his/her lifetime.
• There are two types of paid new Title pages; a half page with one picture is $25, a full page with one picture is $40. (After the first free one).

• Checks should be made payable to the BMDCA. In the memo line, print Yearbook, the dog’s name and Berner-Garde number for reference. Checks should be mailed to Teresa Dominguez at the address below.

The simple case is if your dog has earned only one honor during the past calendar year. In this case you only need to submit your dog once.

However, it is very possible that your dog has earned more than one honor in the past calendar year. In this case, you will need to submit a separate entry for your dog for each category in which they have earned an award. The categories are listed on the submission page.

If your dog has earned more than one honor in a category, you will need only one submission for that category and then check each specific honor earned in that category. You will receive only one page for each category.

The BMDCA Yearbook is a very high quality publication and we would like to keep it so. This means that we do need you to submit a high quality photo that will reproduce well. The system will enforce a minimum size in photo dimensions (height and width). Here are the details:

• Submitted photos must be in .jpg or .png format. Word documents or pdf files are not acceptable.
• Each photo must be a minimum of 1000 pixels along one edge.
• Photos must be an actual unaltered digital photo image. Altered images or "stylized" submissions are not allowed and will be rejected.
• When taking picture with your phone or camera, make sure you have the resolution set to the highest resolution or DPI (dots per inch) the device allows.
• Photos may be cropped by the Yearbook staff to provide a better closeup image.

We need high resolution photos of your dog. Please, when scanning your actual photographs make sure you set the Resolution to 300dpi. Save the picture as a jpeg, or png. The screen shots here show how typical scanner settings look.

Your software may be slightly different but will typically have these settings.

You are also welcome to send her your submission information via email or via US Mail as outlined below.

You may not have access to a quality digital image or may be uncomfortable using the online submission tool. In these cases you are welcome to submit your dog information via US Mail. Your photo may be submitted on a CD, thumb drive, or you may send an actual high quality photograph. If you send an actual photograph, these must be professionally printed photos; not something printed on a home printer. If you want an actual photograph returned, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed return envelope.
